Grants
Good News! In the 2011-12 year, Chesnut won nearly $10,000 in grants!
A grant is a free gift of money, goods, or services. In most cases, grants are tax-free, and they never have to be paid back. There are three basic types of grants: foundation, corporate, and government grants. Grants can range in amount from a few hundred dollars up to hundreds of thousands, or more, depending upon the project and the funder.
In the past, Chesnut has applied for grants from sources such as:
- Target
- Best Buy
- Time-Warner
Chesnut can benefit from thousands of dollars every year in grants -- but we need alert parents and teachers to look for grant opportunities that fit the school. Parents may become aware of available grants through their employers, teachers through professional associations, and the whole school community can watch for grant opportunities that are frequently advertised on behalf of big-name retailers.
The school has a parent volunteer trained grant-writer willing and able to write grant applications. If you want to find out more about how you can help Chesnut to capture grant money... if you know of a grant that the school is eligible for... if you need to know how to follow up on a grant with your employer... send an e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
